Extending the service of IGP until the end of the month is not an issue! President discuss with me too Says the minister of public security I Sri Lanka Latest News
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Before granting service extension to the IGP president had a discussion with me Minister of Public Security Mr Tiran Alles

The Minister has stated this in relation to the news reports that have been published on some social media that ‘the Police Commissioner has been given a three-week extension of service without notifying the Minister in Charge Tiran Alas’.

“I was abroad last week. Before leaving for that visit, the President had a long discussion with me on that matter. In a few days, the President was also scheduled to participate in a visit to China. Therefore, it was decided to assign CD Wickramaratne to work as IGP for another three weeks until both of us return. Therefore, if media reports have been published that the President has given the extension of service without the knowledge of the minister in charge, it is completely baseless,” Public Security Minister Tiran Alas added.

The minister further said that extending the service to IGP Wickramaratne till the end of this month is not a problematic situation.
