An explosion occurred on the lower deck of the MV WAN HAI 503, a cargo vessel en route from Colombo to the Nhava Sheva port, according to Sri Lanka Latest News.
At the time of the incident, 22 crew members were on board. Four individuals have been reported missing, while five others sustained serious injuries.
In response to the emergency, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has deployed three specialized vessels—ICGS Rajadhooth, ICGS Arnavesh, and ICGS Sachet—to the site of the explosion, as reported by foreign media.
A spokesperson for the Indian Coast Guard (PRO) confirmed that an immediate investigation has been launched, and search operations are currently ongoing to locate the missing sailors.
