Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has informed President Ranil Wickramasinghe to fulfil his promise to the Pohottuwa party by adding 25 MPs from the Samagi Jana Balawega (SJB) to the government before June 15. This message was delivered to President Wickramasinghe through a third party last week.

The message stated that if the President successfully integrates 25 SJB MPs into the government as promised, Pohottuwa will support him in the upcoming presidential election. However, if this promise is not fulfilled by June 15, Pohottuwa will make a final decision regarding their stance in the presidential election on June 16.

Sources close to Pohottuwa suggest that if the government fails to secure the 25 SJB MPs, Mahinda Rajapaksa is prepared to announce Pohottuwa’s presidential candidate on June 17.
