Entrepreneur Awards 2023 – Western province was held in grandeur on 7th November 2023, Lotus Convention Hall, BMICH for the sixth consecutive year. The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka and National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA) have jointly designed and organized this annual award scheme to distinguish, reward and motivate Sri Lanka’s very own entrepreneurs. Driven with the objective of recognizing the accomplishments to encourage the business community in the Western Province to improve their standards of business practices and achieve a high level of entrepreneurship focusing on the Micro, Small, Medium and Large sectors.
The ceremony was graced by Hon. Dr. Ramesh Pathirana, Minister of Industries as Chief Guest, Hon. Prasanna Ranaweera, State Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises Development and H.E. Katsuki Kotaro, Minister / Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka and several other distinguished invitees.
47 winners were awarded including merit certificate awards and plaques in the categories of Industry / Manufacturing Sector, Agriculture / Livestock & Fisheries Sector and Hospitality / Tourism & other services Sector including Overall Excellence Winners of Gold, Silver and Bronze.
The most prestigious awards for Overall Enterprise Excellence (one award) and Best Enterprise Awards (12) for each sector. Special awards (11) were presented for the Best Environmental Friendly Enterprise, Best Exporter, Best Productive Enterprise, Best Innovative Enterprise, Best Value-Added Enterprise, Best Energy Efficiency Enterprise, Best Entrepreneur Providing Most Number of Jobs for Females, Best Women Entrepreneur, Best Entrepreneur with Special Abilities and Best Youth Entrepreneur. In addition to the above, a special award titled ‘Award for the Best Entrepreneur who Recovered and Survived During covid and Economic Crisis was also awarded.
