On May 8th, Invest India and the International Solar Alliance, in collaboration with the High Commission of India in Colombo, hosted a dynamic one-day workshop aimed at uniting Sri Lanka’s burgeoning solar start-up community. The event served as a platform to introduce participants to the SolarX Start-up Challenge: APAC Edition and its manifold benefits, featuring in-depth sessions elucidating the program’s features and advantages.
Dr. Satyanjal Pandey, Deputy High Commissioner of India, delivered a compelling keynote address, underscoring India’s renewable energy sector’s exponential growth and the myriad collaboration opportunities available. He also outlined forthcoming initiatives tailored to bolster Sri Lanka’s start-up ecosystem in this domain. Attendees comprised representatives from prominent Sri Lankan incubators and universities.
The SolarX Start-up Challenge endeavours to crowdsource implementable, cost-effective, scalable, and innovative solutions to entrenched challenges encountered by member countries’ solar energy sectors. Initially focused on the African region, the second edition zeroes in on the APAC region, prioritizing innovation and indigenous solutions, all under the overarching objective of capacity building.
