Former Member of Parliament Mr. Mujibur Rahman said that the opposition leader started the fight outside the parliament to abolish the civic rights of the Rajapaksa who made wrong economic decisions and bankrupted the country.Sri Lanka Latest News
Mr. Rahuman also mentioned that the people started the program to form an opinion in the country that all the privileges given to the Rajapaksas should be stopped by gathering signatures against the Rajapaksas who bankrupted the country.
He mentioned this in a press conference held at the opposition leader’s office yesterday (23).
Mujiber Rahman said that the concessions given to the Rajapaksas from the tax money of the people of the country should be stopped and how much money has been lost because of them and a special presidential commission is needed to recover the lost money.
If President Ranil Wickramasinghe is not Ranil Rajapakse, Mr. Rahuman requested the President to appoint a Presidential Commission with jurisdiction and act against the economic killers.
He who commented further said:
The Supreme Court has given an order that Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Mahinda Rajapaksa, Basil Rajapaksa, Ajith Nivard Cabral, PB Jayasundara, SR Artigala and all the officials of the Finance Committee are responsible for the destruction caused to the people due to the economic decline and bankruptcy of the country from 2019 to 2022.
Politically, we submitted that the country has declined due to wrong economic decisions, and the Supreme Court has confirmed that fact.
When the opposition leader was speaking in Parliament about the Supreme Court order, the members of Pohottuwa created obstacles by not allowing the opposition leader to speak. The opposition leader’s files were also seized. All this happened in the presence of the speaker. The speaker watched this event in silence. The Speaker implements the law in one way for the MPs in Pohottuwa and in another way for the opposition MPs. The speaker acts as the speaker of the ruling party. The Speaker does not need to hear evidence about this incident. Everything happened in front of the leader’s eyes. But the speaker was biased.
The speaker says that MPs should not be allowed to make videos in the parliament chamber. MPs are videotaping the misdeeds happening in the parliament chamber to let the people of the country know about the behavior of THARA MPs. The MPs who cannot be controlled by the speaker should control the people. It needs to videotape the wrongdoings of the members in the parliament chamber. The people who voted for these thrad MPs also want to know how those MPs behave in Parliament. If the speaker controls the parliament properly, there is no need to videotape it. These things happen because of the incompetence of the speaker. Once again in the Parliament, the MPs are trying to implement the Rajapaksa’s trada and terrorist culture.
We should be thankful to the opposition leader for raising the issue in Parliament that the members of Pohottuwa should not be afraid of threats as the true opposition leader of the people and punish the economic killers. Today we brought out the fight started by the opposition leader. The people of the country rallied against the economic killers, got signatures against the economic killers and started the necessary program to build an opinion that all the privileges given to the Rajapaksa should be stopped. A presidential commission should be appointed to find out how to recover the wealth that the economic killers lost to the country.
The President said that the Legislative Assembly is a part of the Executive. The Legislative Council does not belong to the Executive. The Constituent Assembly is an independent body. The Constituent Assembly exists to stop the misuse of powers by the executive.
The President stopped the holding of the election without providing money for the local government election. We filed a petition in the Court of Appeal. During the hearing of the case in the Court of Appeal, the President asked in the Parliament that “where there is a vote, there should be a vote to hear the case”. The President insulted the judiciary in Parliament.
The Court of Appeal ruled that the local government elections should be held. At that time, the president deployed two members of parliament and raised the issue of privilege and tried to bring the judges in the court to the privilege committee of the parliament.
The judiciary should be allowed to work independently. It is the executive’s responsibility to allow the judiciary to work independently. The President, who put pressure on the judiciary in this way, says that the judiciary should be protected. It was the president who undermined the judiciary.
The president says that Sri Lanka’s cricket crisis is a problem of two groups. The two groups called President are in the government. One team is the sports minister. The other group is the team of the cricket administration including the president. There are no other groups. Cricket was banned because the government could not solve this cricket problem. The government led by the President is responsible for depriving the country of the Under-19 World Cup. Solving the cricket problem is the President’s responsibility. The president has appointed politicians to look into cricket. President says in Parliament that politics should not be used in cricket. How can a president who cannot solve the cricket problem solve the country’s problems?
