Yesterday (08th), the Election Commission along with the police visited the head office of the Petroleum Corporation and investigated a complaint received by the Election Commission that fuel stations were being given based on political affiliations even though the date of the presidential election had been announced. Sri Lanka Latest News

The sources of the corporation stated that the officials of the Election Commission and the police officers met with the chairman of the oil corporation and the senior officers and took statements in this regard and also inspected the files.

While the presidential election has been announced, the minister has given attention to several complaints that he is distributing petrol stations and cutting the jobs of employees under the guise of reform.

Attention has been primarily focused on a new petrol station that is about to open in Hambantota. Officials of the oil company have pointed out that although the gas station was approved in 2019, it was built and prepared for opening recently.
