Former President Maithripala Sirisena informed the seven-judge bench of the Supreme Court today that he opposes removing the current President Ranil Wickremesinghe from accountability according to the constitutional immunity he has been named as a respondent in the fundamental rights petitions filed regarding the inevitability of the Easter Sunday attacks.
Former President Maithripala Sirisena, who is named as a respondent in this case, was informed to the Supreme Court by President’s lawyer Faizer Mustafa.
These petitions were filed by 12 parties, including the Sri Lanka bar association, relatives of victims and injured people from the Easter Sunday attack, and clergy from various churches.

Accordingly, the Supreme Court ordered that these petitions be convened tomorrow, stating that all the respondents will be given an opportunity to present their facts.
