A Grand Celebration of Faith, Culture, and Tradition

The Indian Cultural Association (ICA), in collaboration with the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC) – the cultural arm of the High Commission of India – celebrated Durga Puja 2025 from 27th September to 2nd October at the Sri Manika Vinayagar Kovil Hall, Bambalapitiya.

The six-day celebration of faith, tradition, and cultural unity brought together devotees, families, and well-wishers from all walks of life to honor Goddess Durga and her triumph of good over evil. The decorated pandal, adorned with vibrant lights and flowers, created a divine and festive ambiance, while the idol of Goddess Durga stood as a symbol of power, grace, and compassion.

Daily rituals, including pujas, pushpanjali, aarti, and bhog, were conducted, accompanied by cultural programs that showcased the richness of Indian art and heritage. The celebration also featured music, dandiya dance, and traditional performances by both community members and Sri Lankan artists – reflecting the harmony and cultural diversity that Durga Puja embodies. The festivities culminated on the final day with the traditional Sindoor KhelaandVisarjan, marking the farewell of Goddess Durga with joy and gratitude.

The Indian Cultural Association is a non-profit organization committed to fostering cultural ties and promoting Indian arts, heritage, and traditions within the Sri Lankan community. Through various initiatives such as cultural events, film screenings, and collaborative programs, ICA works to strengthen people-to-people connections and mutual understanding between India and Sri Lanka.

The Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC) serves as the cultural arm of the High Commission of India in Sri Lanka. It offers a wide range of programs and courses in music, dance, yoga, and languages, aiming to promote Indian culture and further enhance the longstanding cultural bonds between the two nations.
