Police said that a group of drunken excise officers assaulted an employee of a pizza restaurant located in Colombo One Golfface mall last night (5).
The police also mentioned that a head cook and an excise officer of the restaurant were injured in the attack and admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.
A fight broke out last night at a pizza restaurant located on the 6th floor of Colombo One Golfface mall.
One worker placed his helmet on a nearby table to leave after finishing his work.
A nearby CCTV camera recorded a group of excise officers trying to take away the helmet and leaving it again.
Along with that, there has been an argument with the manager of the restaurant and its head cook and the group of related officials.
In the meantime, the CCTV camera had recorded the excise officers trying to assault the head cook on several occasions.
During the fight between the excise officers there, it was recorded in a CCTV camera that they fell on the ground several times.
Then the group of excise officers consisting of about 15 people left the place and came back and threw the main cook on the ground and beat him severely.
The head cook, who was injured in the attack, has been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.
Two excise officers are currently receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital after being injured.
The police said that the excise officers who carried out the assault were heavily drunk at the time.
Mr. Nihal Talduwa, Senior Superintendent of Police, said in a police media statement that the police are conducting further investigation after recording their statements.
