Dr. Nilupul Perera has tendered his resignation from the positions of Chairman and Board Member of Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC with immediate effect.
According to reports from the news agency Akara, Dr. Perera will be stepping down from his roles as Chairman, Non-Executive Director, and Non-Independent Director of Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC, effective from July 5th.

In a related development, Nuwan Dharmaratne, Chief Operating Officer of Pelwatte Sugar Company, has also resigned. His resignation follows a request made by the Minister in charge of the subject, Sunil Handunnetti, in response to a personal Facebook post made by Dharmaratne regarding the protection of the local sugar industry.
Dharmaratne, in his resignation letter addressed to the Minister, announced that he would step down from his post effective June 27th, in consideration of the Minister’s request.
The controversy arose after Dharmaratne published a Facebook post on May 24th, criticizing the decision by Deputy Minister Namal Karunaratne to permit maize cultivation on lands belonging to the Kantale Sugar Factory.
Similarly, the Ceylon Electricity Board has seen a leadership change with the recent resignation of its Chairman, Dr. Tilak Siyambalapitiya. Dr. Siyambalapitiya, known as the architect of the Jathika Jana Balawegaya government’s energy policy during the last election cycle, stepped down from the post, prompting the appointment of a new chairman.
