Doctors at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital have commenced a strike in protest against the rape of a female colleague, demanding the immediate arrest of the perpetrator.
According to reports, the 32-year-old female doctor had returned to her government-provided dormitory after completing her duties yesterday (10). Between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m., an unidentified individual allegedly entered the premises, threatened her with a knife, and sexually assaulted her.
The Anuradhapura Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are continuing further inquiries.
