Divisional Secretariat Employees Stage Silent Protest Against Threats of MP Ali Sabri Rahim and Obstruction of Puttalam Divisional Secretary

The employees of the Divisional Secretariat engaged in a silent protest during the lunch hour today(27), protesting against the incident of threatening the Member of Parliament, Ali Sabri Rahim, by obstructing the duties of the Puttalam Divisional Secretary Mr Sampath Wirasekara, who went to look into a land issue. According to a complaint received that a group of people had entered a government-owned land on the Old Mannar Road in Puttalam and were carrying out some illegal constructions by erecting fences, Mr Ali Sabri Rahim, the Member of Parliament, stormed into the place while he went to investigate the incident with the administrative village officer and the village officers in charge of the domain. There was a disruption in the work.

Protesting against the incident, all the officials of the Puttalam Divisional Secretariat started protesting at lunchtime, demanding that the politicians stop pointing fingers at the officials. – Photo source:Lankadeepa
