District Secretaries are on stand-by for disasters

Every district secretary has been notified of the need to be ready for any emergency.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has directed Saman Ekanayake, the Secretary, to issue direct orders to the relevant ministries and departments.

So, the district secretaries will be in charge of coordinating the work across all 25 districts. with help from the Meteorology Department, the Geology and Mines Bureau, and the Building Research Institutes.

Relief service officers at the district disaster management coordination units and divisional secretariat level will receive the appropriate guidance from the Disaster Management Center within the Ministry of Defense.

In the event of an emergency disaster situation, all relevant line ministries have been notified to take all necessary measures to prevent emergencies. To keep public life running normally, as well as to provide all necessary support for the rapid implementation of all necessary relief programmes. while keeping efficiency at a high level.

The Disaster Management Centre has announced that the 117 hotline will be available around the clock. The National Disaster Relief Services Centre (NDRSC) to keep open around the clock as well.

The NDRSC is vigilent to help those who are impacted and provid them with food, shelter, and other necessities.
