Piyasena Kahadagamage, a 74-year-old disabled individual who filed a petition at the Colombo Court of Appeal during the period of controversy over the proposed transfer of the historic Nuwara Eliya Post Office to a hotel—a proposal made by former President Ranil Wickremesinghe under the previous government—has now submitted a petition directly to the President, making a special request.
In his petition, Kahadagamage urges that the cabinet approval concerning the case, which is currently pending cabinet consideration, be forwarded to the Attorney General’s Department without delay and that the matter receive immediate cabinet approval.
He further points out that the government decision taken on 24 July 2024, which was altered by an earlier cabinet decision, was not forwarded to the Attorney General when the two related cases were called on 25 June 2025 and 28 August 2025. He requests that this decision be sent to the Attorney General’s Department without fail before 11 September 2025, the scheduled date for the case hearing.
