Senior DIG and Acting IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon has been appointed as the 36th Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Sri Lanka.
This appointment, in compliance with the stipulations outlined in Articles 41C.(1) and 61E.(b) of the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, has been made under the authority vested in President Ranil Wickremesinghe, the PMD reported.
Secretary to the President Mr. Saman Ekanayake presented the official appointment letter to Mr. Deshabandu Tennakoon this afternoon (26) at the Presidential Secretariat.
Tennakoon had been appointed as the Acting IGP on November 29, 2023.
