As the number of cases of dengue, malaria and leptospirosis are on the rise, health authorities advise people to seek medical attention if fever persists for more than 48 hours.

Also, the officials of the Ministry of Health said that people should not draw their own conclusions about the disease they are suffering from.

Currently, there is a large increase in dengue, malaria and leptospirosis patients, the health department says.

Around 30,000 dengue cases have been reported throughout the island during the period of 2023.

Among them, 50 percent are reported from the Colombo and Gampaha districts of the Western Province.

According to its data, the number of people who have died due to dengue during that period is 15.

Health departments emphasize that small children should be protected from mosquito bites.

The President of the Sri Lanka Medical Association informed that in Asian countries like India, Vietnam and Singapore, Covid patients are reported daily and in our country also about 05 to 06 patients are reported daily.

Due to the spread of flu these days, we are informed that Covid should be distinguished from influenza and the methods used in the past should be followed again.

The Chairman further informs that face masks should be worn when going to crowded places.
