Death Threat to Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman: Police Launch Investigation

The Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman, Kasun Ratnayake of the National People’s Power, has lodged a complaint with the Homagama Police Headquarters, alleging that an individual known as “Handaya” issued a death threat against him, according to Police Headquarters. Sri Lanka Latest News

The incident reportedly took place around 12:33 p.m., when a call was received on the official mobile phone of the Chairman’s office while he was conducting a ‘Public Day’ meeting on the 27th.

According to the complaint filed on the 28th, the individual identified as “Handaya” allegedly threatened the Chairman, stating, “You know what happened to Sana.”

Police confirmed that statements have been recorded from both the Chairman and the Secretary of the Council regarding the matter.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the threatening call was made through a regular phone connection.

Senior police officials at the Police Headquarters suspect that the call may have been made mistakenly by a person residing in Sri Lanka. However, they stated that further inquiries will proceed by presenting the facts before court and obtaining phone analysis reports.

The Homagama Police Headquarters is continuing investigations into the incident.
