In 2017, a case was filed against former minister Wimal Weerawansa, alleging that he failed to disclose the assets and how the money was earned. The Bribery Commission today (16) asked the Colombo High Court to give an early date for the hearing of the case as it has not been possible to start the hearing so far. (Sri Lanka Latest News)
When this case was called, the accused Wimal Weerawansa did not appear before the court. The lawyer who represented him said that his client was infected with viral fever. A medical report was submitted to confirm that. The High Court judge who ordered the case to be called again on July 17th also ordered to issue a notice to Wimal Weerawansa and told him to appear in court on that day.
Meanwhile, the Colombo High Court has decided to call the case against former minister Mr. Rajitha Senaratne for causing loss to the government during the lease of Modara fishing port on July 13.
