Cylinder Refutes Claims of Appointing Harsha de Silva as Finance Committee Chair, Calls News False
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A senior spokesperson from the Cylinder has refuted claims reported by certain media outlets, which suggested that the Cylinder was proposing Mr. Harsha de Silva as the Chairman of the Finance Committee of Parliament and that Anuradha Jayaratne had been appointed as the Cylinder’s team leader. Speaking exclusively to Mawrata News, the spokesperson emphasized that these reports are entirely false.

The spokesperson clarified that no such decision had been made, and the misinformation was likely orchestrated by Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe’s office on Malwatte Road. They further pointed out that this fabricated news was spread by the party with the intent to create divisions within the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB).

Additionally, the spokesperson stated that no meeting had been convened among Cylinder representatives to discuss such matters. They further confirmed that no official discussions involving the Cylinder’s Secretary General had taken place. Had such a discussion occurred, the Secretary General would have publicly communicated it to the nation.
