Creditors want to back SL – CBSL Governor
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Sri Lanka’s creditors have expressed willingness to extend their support to the crisis-hit nation, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe said.

Dr. Weerasinghe said the assurance was given during the talks on restructuring Sri Lanka’s debts.

He stressed that there will be no more second chances to stabilize the country’s economy and regain the output losses.

“The stabilization of the economy and regaining of output losses can only be resolved if measures to solve both problems are implemented together right now,” the CBSL Governor said.

Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe also pointed out that Sri Lanka needs to implement reforms to enhance growth and fix imbalances.

He made these remarks while addressing an event held to launch a report compiled by the Institute of Policy Studies titled ‘Sri Lanka: State of Economy.’
