20 countries, including Qatar, abstained from voting on the resolution.

Speaking on behalf of Sri Lanka at the 51st session of the Human Rights Council, Foreign Minister and President’s counsel Ali Sabri said that he completely rejects the new proposals brought about by Sri Lanka.

In the Geneva Human Rights Commission, the proposal against Sri Lanka was initially expected to receive 30 votes, but only 20 countries voted in favor of the proposal.
