Confrontation Averted: Prasanna Ranaweera and Lohan Ratwatta Clash at Political Gathering
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Reports indicate that a confrontation between Prasanna Ranaweera and Lohan Ratwatta required intervention to prevent escalation. The incident occurred during a private gathering at the Madhuvita party last Monday, following a clandestine meeting at the Water’s Edge Hotel, attended by cabinet and state ministers, as part of the political maneuvering to nominate Ranil Wickremesinghe as the presidential candidate.

Allegedly, the confrontation arose when Lohan Ratwatta accused state ministers of losing their credibility due to a recent incident involving Prasanna Ranaweera at the airport. In response, Ranaweera questioned Ratwatta about his own conduct during a past incident at the Anuradhapura jail, suggesting it did not uphold the dignity of a state minister.

Prasanna Ranatunga, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, and Kanchana Wijesekera reportedly intervened to defuse the situation and prevent it from escalating into physical conflict.
