A cohort of 29 Sri Lankan journalists and media professionals has completed a two-week ITEC training programme on Media Management at the Dr. MCR Human Resource Development Institute of Telangana’s Centre for Law & Public Administration (CLP). The programme, sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, concluded with an interactive feedback session at the High Commission premises in Colombo, where High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka H.E. Santosh Jha met with the participants.
Held from June 24 to July 7, 2024, the programme aimed to enhance participants’ skills and knowledge in contemporary media practices across print, electronic, digital, and social media platforms. It included training on the latest media trends, such as the use of emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, and strategies for addressing misinformation and disinformation. Participants also explored the role of Social Media in promoting Good Governance and developed skills pertinent to the digital transformation of newsrooms and data-based reporting. The programme also featured site visits to notable cultural and heritage sites in the region.
This training was part of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme, established in 1964 by the Ministry of External Affairs. ITEC offers a diverse range of courses across 25 fields, including Accounts, Banking and Finance, Cyber Technology, Environment and Climate Change, Management, Human Resource Development, and more.
