Some street lights in Colombo have become dilapidated due to a lack of maintenance, affecting the city’s illumination.
The wires in some street lights have become exposed, and power cabins erected by the street are also broken and exposed, which could be dangerous because pedestrians walking by them could be electrocuted.
Lamp posts in some areas had an electricity connection, but the lights atop them had damaged bulbs or no bulbs at all.
People complain that as the country entered an economic crisis, night lights that used to illuminate streets were turned off, leaving people in the dark.
