The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) All Share Price Index (ASPI) reached an all-time high today, marking a significant milestone in the country’s financial markets.

At the close of trading, the ASPI stood at 17,214.39 points, surpassing the previous record of 17,193.8 points set on February 18, 2025. This marks a sharp gain of 234.50 points in a single trading day.

The surge in the index was primarily driven by a rise in the share prices of key banking and financial institutions. Notable contributors to the increase included Commercial Bank, Sampath Bank, DFCC Bank, Central Finance, and Hatton National Bank.

In addition, today’s trading session recorded a transaction turnover of Rs. 7.37 billion, highlighting strong investor activity and market confidence.
