Colombo port to lose out: new Chattogram-Dubai container service

According to a Bangladeshi media report, a direct container shipping route between Chattogram, Bangladesh and Dubai will be inaugurated, bypassing the Colombo Port.
Imports from Dubai are now routed through Sri Lanka’s Colombo port. In Colombo, the consignments are unloaded from the mother vessel and loaded onto smaller feeder vessels. Export shipments are also routed through Colombo to Dubai.
