Colombo: 50 Trees Fall, Resulting in 6 Deaths – Sri Lanka Latest News

The police have issued special warnings to prevent accidents caused by falling trees due to bad weather conditions. (Sri Lanka Latest News)

It is special that 06 of the 07 deaths due to inclement weather have been caused by falling trees.

At present, nearly 50 trees have fallen in the city of Colombo and the Colombo Municipal Council says that many fallen trees were not in a dangerous condition.

Steps were taken to cut down more than 100 trees out of 200 trees that were 50-150 years old, which were identified as being in a dangerous condition, and the branches of other trees were cut.

However, the Colombo Municipal Council stated that none of the trees that have fallen within the limits of the Colombo Metropolitan Municipality due to the prevailing winds due to the South West Monsoon is not of a previously identified risk condition.
