A clash has erupted between two groups of third-year and second-year students at the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Ruhuna. (Sri Lanka Latest News)
According to reports, the university administration has taken immediate steps to temporarily remove students of both years from the premises in order to bring the situation under control.
The altercation reportedly began over a dispute regarding the score of a cricket match held the day before yesterday (19). Although the issue was initially resolved, tensions flared again yesterday (20), resulting in another confrontation in which about six students sustained injuries.
It has also been reported that the students involved in the clash were taken to the Kamburupitiya Police, and further investigations are currently underway.
