The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has initiated steps to record statements from two senior officers who served under former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, as part of an ongoing investigation into a foreign trip undertaken during his tenure.
According to police sources, the investigation centers on activities related to this official overseas visit conducted while Wickremesinghe was serving as President.
As the two officers currently reside abroad, the CID has reportedly sought the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to facilitate their return to Sri Lanka for questioning.
