The Chinese Chamber of Commerce has announced plans to invest in Sri Lanka, according to Sri Lanka Latest News.
The proposed investment aims to utilize currently unused land for the development of large-scale dairy farming projects and export-oriented agricultural ventures, including the cultivation of vegetables and fruits.
Attention has been drawn to the use of idle lands owned by the Department of the Commissioner General of Lands, the Land Reforms Commission, and the Mahaweli Authority for these purposes.
In this regard, a discussion was recently held at the Farmers’ Hall between the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands and Irrigation, K.D. Lalkantha, and a delegation representing the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, during which the proposals were formally presented.
The Chinese Chamber of Commerce has submitted a detailed proposal on the matter to both the Minister and the Presidential Secretariat.
It is reported that the Minister has responded positively to the proposal.
