China’s loan guarantee is insufficient! A more specific and credible certificate that meets IMF standards is required! Nuland, the US Under secretary in Sri Lanka, declares publicly!

US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland said on Wednesday (1) that the United States wants to see an IMF agreement for Sri Lanka as soon as possible. However she noted that what China has offered in terms of debt restructuring and relief is not enough.

She noted for a debt restructuring program IMF expects credible and specific assurances that they will meet the IMF standard of debt relief.

US Undersecretary arrived in Sri Lanka on the 311st and expected to leave to Qatar late evening today (1).
