The number of children receiving treatment for dengue virus and COVID-19 at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital (LRH) in Colombo is growing, according to LRH Consultant Paediatrician Dr. Deepal Perera.
He told the Daily Mirror that they discovered 25 dengue-positive cases, 18 of which had normal dengue fever and eight of which had dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) and were being treated at the hospital.
Meanwhile, he stated that nine normal COVID-19-positive children are being treated in the COVID wards, and two more patients are being treated in the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU).
Following a random examination of the patients, the number of dengue and COVID-positive cases was discovered. If we had checked all of the patients, the number would have been higher, according to Dr. Perera.
As a result, the doctor advised the people to clean their surroundings, including their homes and school grounds.
He also advised that basic health guidelines be followed again to prevent children from becoming infected with the COVID-19 virus.
