Inspector Ashoka Ariyawansa, the Chief Security Officer of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, has been transferred with immediate effect to the Kankesanthurai Police Station.
The transfer was officially implemented today (May 1) by the Police Commission.
Inspector Ariyawansa has been a part of Wickremesinghe’s security detail for 23 years, including 15 years as his chief personal security officer.
In recent developments, during the arrest of MP Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, alias Pillayan, by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), it was Inspector Ariyawansa who reportedly contacted the CID, conveying a message that Wickremesinghe wished to speak with Pillayan.
