Chamari Athapaththu named the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year 2023 I Sri Lanka Latest News

Sri Lanka’s cricket star Chamari Athapaththu has won the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year 2023 award after an extraordinary 12 months.
During 2023, Chamari scored 415 runs in eight matches and took one wicket as well.


As captain, 33-year-old Chamari led Sri Lanka to its first series win over New Zealand 2-1. She scored unbeaten knocks of 108 and 140 in the two decisive wins. In the 3rd match, she raced to a century off just 29 balls, which is the fastest century by a Sri Lankan and the 4th fastest by any cricketer in women’s ODI history.


In a career of 98 ODIs, she has scored 3,255 runs at an average of 34.26, with a highest score of 178 not out. With 8 centuries and 15 half-centuries, she has a strike rate of 73.09.
