At the special invitation of the Government of India, the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Infrastructure and Strategic Development, under my chairmanship, is currently undertaking an official study tour in India. The first day of this visit, which aims to strengthen infrastructure development and parliamentary relations between the two countries, included several highly productive discussions.
This morning, we met with the Indian Foreign Secretary and engaged in a cordial discussion on the development activities of both countries. Subsequently, we had the opportunity to meet the Speaker of the Lok Sabha of the Indian Parliament, during which views were exchanged on parliamentary relations between the two nations.
During this visit, we also met with the Parliamentary Committee on Housing and Urban Affairs as well as the Committee on Transport of the Indian Parliament, where we were able to study in depth India’s current infrastructure development and strategic planning. In addition, our delegation participated in a special discussion on Indian parliamentary traditions and the functioning of parliamentary proceedings.
