The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce has praised the budget proposals presented by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, stating that they align with the vision of the Sri Lanka Economic Forum and its targets for 2030.
The budget for 2025 prioritizes economic stability, subsidies, and anti-corruption measures. Additionally, the government’s efforts to enhance infrastructure development through public-private partnerships and transition toward a digital economy have been well received by the Chamber.
A key highlight of the budget is the introduction of a new Customs Act, alongside plans to implement a single-window system to facilitate investment. The government has also placed emphasis on amending and enforcing the Economic Reforms Act, all of which the Chamber recognizes as positive steps toward economic growth.
Furthermore, the budget proposals maintain the existing tax framework while keeping primary expenditure at 13% of GDP. These strategic measures have contributed to the widespread commendation of the budget.
