Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith has expressed his hope that justice will be served before the sixth anniversary of the Easter Sunday attacks.
Speaking at a mass media conference held at the Colombo Archbishop’s Palace, the Archbishop warned that if justice is not delivered, he will be compelled to resort to protests.
“The promise made by His Excellency the President at the Katuwapitiya Church regarding the Easter attack must be fulfilled without delay. They said that the sands of time would not allow the truth to be buried… Therefore, fulfill that promise. We are not silent about the Easter attack—we are waiting. We have entrusted power… Now, use that power. Conduct a proper investigation, enact the necessary laws, and, if required, amend them. Bring justice and truth to light. I urge the current administration to work towards uncovering the truth. Do not keep this a secret. Do not conceal facts or make deals with one another.”
Cardinal Ranjith’s strong statement underscores the ongoing demand for accountability and transparency in the investigation of the devastating attacks that shook the nation.
