A proposal has been submitted to the Central Provincial Maha Sangha Sabha to protest against the increase in the electricity bills of religious places.

It was also mentioned in the proposal that the ‘dayaka saba’ should be brought together for this.

This proposal was presented at the meeting of the Central Provincial Sangha yesterday, and Reverend Galaha Sirisantha Thero, speaking to the media, said:

The electricity bill in the temples has increased five to six times. The electricity bill of my temple has been Rs 60,000 so far. In particular, the season of Kathina Cheevara Pinkam is ahead. We have a strong suspicion that this is a conspiracy to keep temples in the dark during times like Vesak Pozon. Due to the current situation, it will not be necessary to put a light in a temple in the near future. Today we are making a suggestion that on the coming doomsday we turn off the electricity in all the temples and leave the temples in darkness and protest this with the donors. In the future, we hope to act on this through a special intervention throughout the country.
