Calling the judges to the parliamentary privilege committee seriously undermines the judiciary’s independence! The Galle Bar Association has passed a resolution!

The Galle Bar Association points out that a serious threat has been posed to the independence of the judiciary by summoning the Supreme Court judges before the Privileges Committee of the Parliament, accusing them of violating the privileges of the members of Parliament based on the interim orders given by the Supreme Court in connection with the holding of the local government elections.

The bar association has even taken steps to pass a resolution protesting against it.
