He was said to have been killed in a private house in the Potuhera Parabavila area belonging to Sujata Thero.
Information has come to light that this monk retired from the engineering corps of the Sri Lanka Army and entered the monastic life last March. The police said that information has been revealed that the victim, Theranama, is married and his wife left him about 25 years ago.
Police say that on the night of the death, someone came to meet him. Thero told the couple taking care of the house to leave.
The police also suspect that the person who was with Theranama was involved in the killing by stabbing Theranama’s neck with a knife that night.
