The High Commission of India in Colombo has organized a special exhibition titled ‘Buddham Sharanam Gacchami.’ This exhibition, part of the Buddha Rashmi National Vesak Festival, features works by iconic masters of modern Indian art depicting the life of Lord Buddha. It is being held at Seemamalakaya, Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo.
The exhibition opened within the Buddha Rashmi Zone, an event jointly organized by the President’s Secretariat, Prime Minister’s Office, and Gangaramaya Temple. The inauguration on May 23, 2024, was led by Sri Lankan President H.E. Ranil Wickremesinghe and attended by High Commissioner H.E. Santosh Jha, senior ministers, and other dignitaries.
A standout feature of the exhibition is a digital immersive experience that draws visitors into the visual and spiritual essence of Buddhist art, reflecting universal values of wisdom, compassion, and peace. Curated by the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi, India, the exhibition was first shown in New Delhi during Vesak in May 2023.
The exhibition is open to the public from 7 pm on May 23, 2024, until May 26, 2024.
