The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has decided to launch a comprehensive investigation under the Money Laundering Act into the alleged assets of six ministers of the current government.

Accordingly, the Commission will investigate the manner in which assets were allegedly acquired by five Cabinet Ministers and one Deputy Minister.

The Bribery Commission stated that investigations have been initiated against Cabinet Ministers Bimal Ratnayake, Wasantha Samarasinghe, Kumara Jayakody, Sunil Handunnetti, Nalinda Jayatissa, and Deputy Minister Sunil Watagala.

These investigations follow a complaint submitted to the Commission by Jamuni Kamantha Thushara, Chairman of Citizens’ Power Against Corruption and Waste.

The Commission has also requested Mr. Jamuni Kamantha Thushara to appear before it on the day after tomorrow (30th) to record a statement regarding the complaint.
