Bribary probe against Nimal! Report to President before the month end! Will the Japanese ambassador be summoned to testify ?

President Ranil Wickramasinghe has appointed a three-member committee to investigate allegations that former Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva accepted a bribe from a Japanese company while serving as Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Aviation.

Other members of the committee include retired High Court Judge Ms. Kusala Sarojani Weerawardena, retired senior DIG SM Wickramasinghe, and SMG Perera, a senior administrative officer.

The committee’s report should be submitted to the President by the 31st.

However, according to some media reports, after the Japanese Taisei company complained to the Japanese ambassador about the project, the ambassador complained to the president as well.

As a result, many people are wondering whether the Japanese ambassador will be summoned to give a statement before this committee, or whether he will give one.

After the accusation was made, Mr. Nimal Siripala de Silva resigned from his ministerial position, allowing for an investigation.
