Bihar election results 2025 LIVE: The Election Commission of India (ECI) began the counting of votes for the 243-member Assembly at 8 am, and very early trends indicate a close contest between the ruling NDA and the Opposition Mahagathbandhan.
- The BJP-led NDA took a lead in very early trends shortly after the Election Commission of India (ECI) began counting of votes for the 243-seat Bihar assembly elections 2025 at 8 am on Friday. As per early trends at 9:30 am, the NDA crossed the half-way mark of 122, and the Mahagathbandhan was ahead on over 60 seats. However, trends from around the same time showed that the BJP was behind the RJD in terms of the number of seats each party was leading in.
- Key constituencies like Lakhisarai, Alinagar, Buxar and Patna Sahib are among seats where the BJP is leading, and Raghopur, Thakurganj, Amnour, Hajipur and Bodh Gaya are seats where the RJD was leading at 9:15 am, trends from PValue Analytics showed.
- These are very early trends and it will likely be indicated by evening who out of the top contenders – the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) or the Mahagathbandhan – is heading for victory.
- While most exit polls have favoured the ruling NDA as the clear winner, the Opposition Mahagathbandhan remains confident of defying the projections and coming to power.
- While former Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav is the INDIA bloc’s CM face, the ruling NDA has made no such announcement. All eyes are also on Nitish Kumar’s future, with the Opposition long claiming that he may not return as chief minister even if the NDA secures a win.
- Poll analyst Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) is also in the fray in the election.
