Bar Association Presidency Election 2025: Three Nominations Filed, Secretary Re-Elected Unopposed

President’s Counsel Anura Meddegoda, the current President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka, along with former Secretaries Rajeev Amarasuriya and Sunil Abeyratne, have officially submitted their nominations for the position of President of the Bar Association for the 2025-2026 term.

The nominations were handed over at the Bar Association Secretariat to Solicitor General Viraj Dayaratne. Additionally, Attorney-at-Law Chathura Galhena submitted his nomination to continue serving as Secretary of the Bar Association for a second consecutive term.

Following the nomination process, Attorney-at-Law Chathura Galhena was elected unopposed as the Secretary of the Bar Association for the 2025-2026 term.

The election to determine the next President of the Bar Association will take place on February 19, 2025.
