Bar association demands an investigation on the resignation of Mulativu Magistrate I Sri Lank Latest news

The Bar Association has emphasized that there is a need for a full investigation to ensure independence and impartiality regarding the resignation of Mr T. Saravanaraja, who served as Mullaitivu Magistrate. Sri Lanka Latest News

The Bar Association expresses these views by issuing a notice.

There they have pointed out that Mullaitivu Magistrate is very concerned about the resignation saying that there are threats to his life.

The announcement further states that in view of the seriousness of the issues related to the independence and rule of law of the judiciary and measures to ensure independence and impartiality, it is imperative to fully investigate the matter.

Transparency is the main expectation and the results of the investigation and the measures taken should be informed to the people without delay, the statement said.

On behalf of the Bar Association, a group of lawyers namely Riansi Arsakularatne, Upul Jayasuriya, Dr Jayampathi Wickramaratne, Jeffrey Alagaratnam, Saliya Peiris and Upul Kumarapperuma have signed it.
