“Bar Association Challenges Appointment of Inspector General of Police, Citing no Constituent Assembly Approval”! Sri Lanka Latest News

Although the Constituent Assembly did not give the approval for the extension of service, the Inspector General of Police, C.D. Wickramaratne he is appointed as the IGP. The Sri Lanka Bar Association has said that they are ready to take necessary legal action against Wickramaratne’s appointment. Sri Lanka Latest News

As the Constituent Assembly has not approved the three-week extension of service given to Mr Wickramaratne by the President, the position of Inspector General of Police is technically vacant, says the Sri Lanka Bar Association.

Earlier it was reported that the majority of the Legislative Assembly was against giving further service extension to Mr. C. D Wickramaratne.
