Tamil Nadu may be heading toward one of its most significant political realignments in decades, according to the latest Axis My India exit poll, which projects a major breakthrough for actor-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and a possible setback for the ruling DMK-led alliance.
As per the Axis My India exit poll, TVK is projected to win between 98 and 120 seats in the 234-member Assembly, placing the party close to the majority mark of 118 seats. The ruling DMK-led alliance is estimated to secure between 92 and 110 seats, while the AIADMK-led alliance is projected to win between 22 and 32 seats.
If these projections materialize, Vijay’s debut Assembly election could significantly reshape Tamil Nadu’s long-standing two-front political structure, which has been dominated for decades by the DMK and AIADMK.
The Axis My India projection further indicates that TVK has quickly evolved from a newcomer into a strong statewide contender. A seat range of 98 to 120 would position the party either as the largest bloc or within close reach of forming government, depending on final constituency results. Such an outcome would mark one of the most notable electoral debuts by a regional party in recent political history.
