ATM robbers in Sri Lanka have been tracked down.

According to the police, among the seven suspects who stole an ATM machine with money from a private bank in the Gampola area, four are brothers from the same family.

The Police Media Spokesperson, Senior Superintendent of Police, and attorney at law, Mr. Nihal Talduwa mentioned that two of them are twin brothers.

Accordingly, 07 suspects involved in the incident are currently in police custody.

Two suspects were arrested in the Gampola area, three suspects in the Galaha area, and two suspects in the Puttalam area.

6 suspects are suspected to be directly involved in this incident and the other suspect has been arrested on suspicion.

All of them are between 24 and 40 years of age.

The suspects came to Gampola area with a taxi van and took away this ATM machine from a private bank.

The suspects found nearly 76 lakh rupees in the relevant ATM machine and then threw it over a cliff.

The police have also found the relevant ATM machine and a pistol in the possession of the suspects has also been found by the police.

The Police Media Spokesperson stated that when the house of Puttalam District Member of Parliament Mr. Ali Sabri was set on fire on May 09 last year, the stolen firearm and 10 related bullets were in the possession of the suspects.

The police found 18 lakh 70,000 rupees in the possession of the suspects.

The suspects have spent 13 lakhs 50,000 rupees and bought a van, which has also been recovered by the police. A motorcycle was also purchased by spending 02 lakh rupees, which is also in the custody of the police.

A gold necklace worth about Rs.190,000, another gold necklace worth about Rs.150,000, a washing machine worth about Rs.114,000, another washing machine worth about Rs.60,000, 3 mobile phones worth Rs.260,000, 3 mobile phones worth Rs. The police found a gold ring worth 33,000 and a gas stove.

Apart from that, many other items are to be found, said the police media spokesperson.

The police also say that the suspects have made a lot of money settlements and banking transactions.

The Police Media Spokesperson said that an incident of these suspects entering a bank in Gampola area and breaking a safe and looting money was reported, and an incident of theft of gold items from two other gold goods shops was also revealed.

Suspects will be presented to the court and detention orders will be obtained and further investigations will be conducted.
